First you will need to copy all the files in the Office installer disc to your hard drive. Then edit the setup.ini file which is at Files\Setup folder and create a new value PIDKEY=YOURPRODUCTKEYHERE at Options. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it. The below guide is for Microsoft Office 2003.

1. Copy all the files from your Microsoft Office CD.

2. Go to \Files\Setup, right click on the Setup.ini file, select Properties and uncheck Read-only.

3. Open Setup.ini, locate [Options] and right at the bottom of the options, type PIDKEY=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXY. Replace the ABCDE… with your genuine Office product key.

4. Save the setup.ini file and burn all the files to a new disc if you need to.

Now when you run Microsoft Office setup, you will still see the dialog window where it asks you to enter the product key but it has been magically auto inserted for you. No more memorizing the CD key, or any precious time typing it.

For Office XP, you won’t find the setup.ini file but instead, you should modify the setupstd.ini file. It’s also in Files\Setup folder.

For Office 2007, the file that you need to modify is different and the file structure is also not the same as Office XP or 2003. Look for a folder called Enterprise.WW or Standard.WW or Pro.WW in the Office 2007 installer. Edit the config.xml file, remove the comment out code for PIDKEY and enter the 25 digit Office 2007 CD Key WITHOUT dashes.

You can now install Office without entering any product key. A simple trick to make our tech life easier.

1. Type about:config in the address bar and then press Enter.

2. In the filter search bar type network.http.pipelining. Be sure the value field is set true,if not double-click to set true. HTTP is the application-layer protocol that most web pages are transferred with. In HTTP 1.1, multiple requests can be sent before any responses are received. This is known as pipelining. Pipelining reduces page loading times, but not all servers support it.

3. Go back to the filter search bar and type network.http.pipelining.maxrequests. Double-click this option and set its value to 8.

4. In the filter search bar and type network.http.proxy.pipelining. Once opened doubleclick on it and set it to true.

5. In IPv6-capable DNS servers, an IPv4 address may be returned when an IPv6 address is requested. It is possible for Mozilla to recover from this misinformation, but a significant delay is introduced.
Type network.dns.disableIPv6 in the filter search bar and set this option to true by double clicking on it.

6. CONTENT INTERRUPT PARSING
This preference controls if the application will interrupt parsing a page to respond to UI events. It does not exist by default. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window, select New and then Boolean from the pop-up menu. Then:
A. Enter content.interrupt.parsing in the New boolean value pop-up window and click OK
B. When prompted to choose the value for the new boolean, select true and click OK.

7. Rather than wait until a page has completely downloaded to display it to the user, Mozilla applications will regularly render what has been received to that point. This option controls the maximum amount of time the application will be unresponsive while rendering pages. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window, select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
A. Enter content.max.tokenizing.time in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK
B. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 2250000 and click OK.

8. CONTENT NOTIFY INTERVAL
This option sets the minimum amount of time to wait between reflows. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window, select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
A. Type content.notify.interval in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
B. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 750000 and click OK.

9. CONTENT NOTIFY ONTIMER
A. This option sets if to reflow pages at an interval any higher than that specified by content.notify.interval. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Boolean from the pop-up menu.
B. Type content.notify.ontimer in the New boolean value pop-up window and click OK.
C. You will be prompted to choose the value for the new boolean. Select true and click OK.

10. Notify Backoffcount
This option controls the maximum number of times the content will do timer-based reflows. After this number has been reached, the page will only reflow once it is finished downloading. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
A. Enter content.notify.backoffcount in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
B. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 5 and click OK.

11. CONTENT SWITCH THRESHOLD
You can interact with a loading page when content.interrupt.parsing is set to true. When a page is loading, the application has two modes: a high frequency interrupt mode and a low frequency interrupt mode. The first one interrupts the parser more frequently to allow for greater UI responsiveness during page load.
The low frequency interrupt mode interrupts the parser less frequently to allow for quicker page load. The application enters high frequency interrupt mode when you move the mouse or type on the keyboard and switch back to low frequency mode when you had no activity for a certain amount of time. This preference controls that amount of time. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
A. Enter content.switch.threshold in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
B. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 750000 and click OK.

12. NGLAYOUT INITIALPAINT DELAY
Mozilla applications render web pages incrementally, they display what’s been received
of a page before the entire page has been downloaded. Since the start of a web page
normally doesn’t have much useful information to display, Mozilla applications will wait
a short interval before first rendering a page. This preference controls that interval. Rightclick (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
A. Enter nglayout.initialpaint.delay in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
B. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 0 and click OK.

A seedbox is a private dedicated server used for the uploading and downloading of digital files. Seedboxes generally make use of the BitTorrent protocol for uploading and downloading, although they have also been used on the eDonkey2000 network. Seedboxes are usually plugged in to high speed bandwidth networks, often with a throughput of 100 Mbit/s or more. Files are uploaded to a seedbox from other BitTorrent users, and from there they can be downloaded at high speeds to a user's personal computer via the HTTP, FTP, SFTP, or rsync protocols.

Seedboxes can run on most major operating systems (Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X). More expensive seedboxes may provide VNC connection, or remote desktop protocol on some Windows-based seedboxes, allowing many popular clients to be run remotely. Other seedboxes are special purpose and run variety of torrent specific software including web interfaces of popular clients like Transmission, rTorrent and µTorrent, as well as the TorrentFlux web interface clients.

Seedboxes on high speed networks are typically able to download large files within minutes (only if the swarm can actually provide such a high upload bandwidth). A 1 GB file can take less than five minutes to download. That same 1 gigabyte file can be uploaded to other users in the same amount of time, creating a 1:1 upload:download ratio for that individual file. The ability of a seedbox to transfer files so quickly is a big attractions seedboxes hold within the P2P and BitTorrent communities.

Because of the mentioned high speeds, seedboxes tend to be extremely popular inside private torrent trackers, where maintaining a download/upload ratio above 1 can be very important.

Paradoxically, there isn't really any specific type of machine called a seedbox, any more than "email PCs" exist, because just about any machine can do either task. To be a seedbox, a machine must simply:

1 - Seed a torrent from its location
2 - Be on a fast (100mbps+) connection
3 - Administrated primarily via remote access

From these criteria, technically nearly any machine can be a seedbox, from a cheap laptop to a powerful HTPC. In practice, however, because seedbox users get the service from a remote provider, they will never actually physically see their machines, which are likely to be server-class hardware.

While it is possible to get a shared server, dedicated servers are recommended. Seedboxes usually run either Linux or Windows, with the latter being the more expensive option. Linux seedboxes are typically accessed via SSH, but some hosting companies will install VNC for users for a fee. Windows seedboxes are typically accessed via the Remote Desktop feature built into the OS.

Unfortunately, some private BitTorrent sites use a combination of IP address and account matching, passkeys and the like to ensure that both the BT peer and the browser are at the same location (or are the same person). This is to prevent cheating and infiltration.

Once access is set up, the seedbox behaves like any other remotely administered PC. With its massive bandwidth, a seedbox can seed (relatively, compared to a home PC) many torrents to many sites simultaneously, thus assisting greatly in ratio maintenance and file distribution.

The steps for uploading a torrent using a seedbox are:*

1 - Create torrent on PC
2 - Upload files to seedbox
3 - Upload torrent to site
4 - Download torrent to seedbox
5 - Start seeding

Commonly suggested seedbox hosts are:

· LeaseWeb
· Fasthosts
· Shinjiru (their main selling point is that they're offshore)
· Vectoral Servers
· JMH Services
· DreamHost
· Layered Technologies
· SoftLayer

You don't need any browser add-ons or programs like flashget to keep those flash games and music/funny/whatever videos you like from places such as youtube and newgrounds. All you need is your browser and windows explorer.

Let me get this tip out of the way before I start. A great tool for playing flash animations, games and videos on your hard drive is available free from the adobe site( http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html ).
Scroll down until you see a link called "Download the Windows Flash Player 9 Projector content debugger (EXE, 2.68 MB)".
It should go without saying that Mac and Linux users should download the version for their respective operating systems but I'm saying it anyway.

Stuff you need to know first:
Since this tutorial involves hidden folders (local settings & application data) and file extensions (you'll need to edit them later) you'll need to know how to see those:
Open control panel and double click "folder options"
In the folder options dialog that just opened select the "view" tab
Put a dot next to "show hidden files and folders" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" as shown in the pic and hit apply.

You'll also need to know the location of your browser's cache folder so here's where you'll find some of those:
Firefox 2.x.x.x - C:\Documents and Settings\[Your user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles\[something].default\cache\
Opera 9.xx - C:\Documents and Settings\[Your user name]\Application Data\Opera\Opera\Profile\cache4
IE7 - Dont know, I don't use it.

I (and hotdogsrgross) find that Opera is the best browser to use for this since it leaves the file extension alone and doesn't rename the flash files beyond recognition (ie: [jumbled numbers and stuff].tmp).

Step one:
Find yourself a flash game or video you want, start it playing and wait until it fully buffers.

Step two:
Leave your browser open and locate it's cache folder. Sort this folder by file size (right click>arrange icons by>size).

Step three:
Copy the largest file and paste it to your desktop. Be aware that if it's only a short video the file you are looking for may not be the biggest in the cache.

Step four:
Right click the file, select rename and add .swf or .flv to the end of the file's name and hit return/enter. I've used both .swf and .flv on flash games and it doesn't seem to matter which you choose, the debug player runs it anyway.

Step five:
Either
A) Open the file with the debug player from the Adobe link at the top of this post.

B) Double click the file. It'll probably open in your browser anyway.

C) Open it in VLC player, but only if it's a video, games won't work in VLC.

Streamripping means saving mp3 files from internet radio streams to your hard drive. All you need is the right tool that does the work for you and your favorite radio station that broadcasts on the internet and uses a format supported.

All you need is a version of the streamripper program available at sourceforge.net.
So here s the link http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=6172&package_id=258843

Select the version best suited for you, there are versions for pc, mac and unix as well as a winamp 5 plugin. The easiest way is probably simply to download the plugin for use in winamp 5. If you don´t have winamp head over to winamp.com and download it now.

There is a good installation tutorial
on the project site, if you have probs installing go there, this should do the trick and get you started.

After installing the plugin you are prompted to start winamp with the streamripper plugin, select yes and you see the standard winamp screens and the additional streamripper window. A streamripper icon should appear in the taskbar next to your clock. Right-click it and select options, we should configure the program before we start using it.

The most important option is File / Output. You select a directory where the mp3 files should be saved. All others are optional, you can define under which name the song should be saved as, the default is Stream Artist - Title, you probably want to change that.

After saving the options we are ready to select a stream and start the ripping process. I suggest the following two websites for an excellent variety of streams that you can rip. The first is shoutcast.com which has more than 30 genres and thousands of radio stations. There should be stations for every taste.

The second one is the stream directory of xiph.org which also has a excellent selection and genres to select.

I suggest your streams should have at least 128 Kbit if you are on broadband, if you can spare it select stations with higher kbit but remember that the saved mp3 files will be larger this way and consume more bandwidth when transferring.

My first selection is the number 1 stream on shoutcast, CLUB 977 The Hitz Channel (HIGH BANDWIDTH) station. Its important that winamp shows artist and title in its windows. This ensures that the stream sends this information and the files will be named correctly. If no information is send the files will get default names and you will have no clue about artist and title later.

When the stream starts in winamp streamripper will automatically show a dialog “press start to rip “ip”". Just press start and streamripper starts its service and saves the files to the location you specified. You can leave it on until you run out of hd space or have to shutdown the pc. If you want to stop simply select stop and the ripping process stops immediatly.

Hey everyone, earlier on today I learned something that I had absolutely no knowledge about, after careful review and study of what it is I figured, why not try and create a guide for those other ExDesians who don't have an understanding about this.

First off, the first thing everyone should know is, what is DEP? DEP stands for Data Execution Prevention which is a security check that has been added to Windows XP SP2 and some other Operating Systems. The general basis of this, is to stop malicious software or "code" to access system resources. In doing this it prevents things such as virus' such as back door trojans from accessing system files and enabling the "cracker" into your computer. There are many other reasons why this is beneficial in having, such as it may help prevent Registry hacks and problems from occuring.

After this short description of what it is and what it does, the next question is, so what? Why care about something such as DEP? It's a safeguard right? Yes and No! It may help stop "malicious" items from being installed or used, but it can actually stop unauthorized software from working. It may even be something that you trust!

For example, you just installed an application, for experimental purposes, we'll say its DVD Shrink. You go to run it for the first time, excited that you are going to be able to "back-up" your movie to your computer, just in case something happens to the origional. But when you double click the application, it doesn't load or you receive an error without the app even loading up. This could have been caused by DEP!!!! cray.gif

The next thing you would want to do then of course, is check to see if you even have DEP, and if you do, make sure the program that you of course trust, is allowed! How do you do this? I will tell you! smile3.gif

First, Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK. System Properties will pop up.
Secondly, click on the Advanced tab, and under Performance, click Settings.
Thirdly, click on the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then follow this procedure:

*Note, if Data Execution Prevention doesn't show up here chances are you are DEP free!*

Click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select to select the OptOut policy, and then click Add to add the programs that you do not want to use the DEP feature. (It may already be selected & you may have some programs already in your "allowed" list, but if you don't have the program you want to be allowed guaranteed, click Add, then cruise on over to your program files in your root directory(usually C:/ProgramFiles/) and find the application you want, for me, I want DVD Shrink, so I double click on that, and find the .exe then, click Open. Finally, I click Apply, and Okay twice.

Ahh!You have just added something into your DEP allowed list :)

An alternative to the System Properties is clicking start, then settings, and clicking Control Panel, when there, if you use Classic Control Panel, you can just double click the system icon. However, if you use the "modern" control panel, you must select Performance & Maintenance, then at the bottom of that window it will have a System Icon.

Logon wallpaper is the wallpaper or image that windows xp shows on screen when windows logs on (before it asks for username & password) . It’s usually set to the image-logo of the brand(manufacturer) of our computer (e.g. in compaq laptops). Now we can set it to our own image or any other image(any bmp file) by following trick.

Open Startmenu->Run type regedit and press ok to open registry editor.(shows a tree like structure of directories at left)

In that hierarchical structure in left, navigate to registry entry
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop

In right side pane see a number of values placed in a table format. choose the value named Wallpaper from there and double click it. Now you see a box with value name as Wallpaper and value data as Path to the image file .There give the full path of the image(bmp file) which you want to set as logon wallpaper by deleting previous path and writing path to your bmp file e.g. C:\WINDOWS\lon.BMP (to set image lon.BMP file as log on wall paper).

Also double click on WallpaperStyle and change it’s value to 2 to get a stretched wallpaper at logon.

Put that bmp file in windows directory for better results.
If that is a jpeg file, convert to bmp file by opening in Windows Image Viewer and save as bmp.
